We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Labor Day long weekend! This Saturday, September 12th, we'll resume regular classes as usual. We'll also be holding this semester's fire drill (two sessions, at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM). This is a routine safety exercise; please see the details and map below.

Week 4 School Update
Construction: New Walking Route
Because of construction next to campus, the entrance the old walking path used is now sealed off. Please follow the new drop-off/pick-up walking route shown below.
Park in Visitor Parking, follow the walking route (green) to the Drop Zone, then to Classrooms/Office. Dance Studio students continue to that building directly. The construction/renovation area (red) along the east side of campus is off-limits.
Fire Drill
Saturday, September 12 — two drills, at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM. BK stays at the basketball court; Dance Studio evacuates to the courtyard; all classrooms and AC/AP evacuate to the marked Evacuation Area.
When you hear the alarm, evacuate calmly and quickly; once at the meeting point, check in with your teacher for attendance; stay with your class and don't return to the building until told it's safe. This is a routine safety exercise, so there's no need for concern.
We share Irvington High School's classrooms: no food, leave desks and floors clean, return desks to where you found them, and don't use the equipment, drawers, fridge, microwave, or anything on the teacher's desk.
Addendum: Before/After Photos
Fremont Chinese School rents classroom space from Irvington High School, and maintaining a good relationship with them depends on leaving each room exactly as we found it.
We've set up a shared photo album for every classroom to help document room conditions before and after each class. If you're the room parent responsible for photos and haven't received your classroom's album link yet, please check with your child's teacher. Thank you for your help!

1. 2026 TOCFL & CCCC Test Registration
Test date: November 8, 2026, 11 AM–1 PM, at two sites — the Bay Area Overseas Chinese Culture and Education Service Center, 100 S. Milpitas Blvd., Milpitas (TOCFL and CCCC), and the North California Chinese Culture and Learning Center, 275 6th Ave., San Francisco (TOCFL only). Registration deadline: October 1, 2026; results in mid-January 2027. Fees: CCCC $30, TOCFL $40.
The Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (TECO in SF) are co-hosting the 2026 Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Children's Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC). Students are encouraged to sign up and get a sense of their Chinese proficiency and learning progress. The school is coordinating registration for all participating students — please register promptly if you're interested. More info.

2. Double Ten National Day T-Shirt Design Contest
Theme: "My National Day, My Style." Age groups: 5–8, 9–12, 13+. Designs must include at least one of: National Day, culture, or creativity. Deadline: October 3, 2026. Prizes: 1st $150, 2nd $80, 3rd $50, honorable mention $20.
Hosted by the Association of Northern California Chinese Schools and co-sponsored by the San Jose International Jaycees, this contest invites students to design their own Double Ten National Day T-shirt!

3. SF Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Essay Contest
Open to students ages 12–22 who have attended a Chinese school. Write 800–1200 characters in Chinese (handwritten or typed; no AI-generated writing) on one of two topics about Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Submit by email to sskidspreschool@yahoo.com by October 15, 2026; winners are announced October 25. Prizes: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $200, honorable mention $100 each. Winners must attend the awards ceremony on November 7, 2026 at 11am at the Memorial Hall (838 Stockton St, SF) and give brief remarks. Contact: (510) 449-7375 (Director Yang Kun-shan).
4. Volunteer Service Award
🔥 The Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) Student Volunteer Service Award is now open for applications! This award recognizes Chinese school students for their community service hours, with Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers for both Teens and Young Adults.
