A Note from the Principal

Dear FCS Families,

Hope everyone's had a great week so far! This Friday, 9/25, is the Mid-Autumn Festival — wishing you and your families a very happy Mid-Autumn Festival ahead of time, filled with togetherness and joy!

This Saturday, 9/26, is Picture Day, the main event for this week! Please see the schedule and meeting-location map below for your class's photo time and where to gather.

Mid-Autumn Mooncakes for Our Teachers

2026 ANCCS & Overseas Community Affairs Council Teacher Awards

We'd also like to congratulate teachers 張樂濱, 張郁君, 莊幼春, 溫淑齡, and 呂慧慈 on receiving the 2026 ANCCS (Association of Northern California Chinese Schools) Outstanding Teacher Award, and teacher 董玉琪 (Yu-Chi Tung Honda) on receiving the Overseas Community Affairs Council's "30-Year Outstanding Teacher" honor! TOCFL Information Session Recap

General Announcements

1. Golden Autumn Carnival — Hanfu Festival

Flyer for the Golden Autumn Carnival Hanfu Festival, a community event hosted by Bodhi Meditation San Francisco.
Sunday, September 27, 2026, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the County Fair Building, Golden Gate Park, 1199 9th Ave, San Francisco. Free event.

Our FCS Chinese Yoyo Team will be performing at this event — come out and cheer them on!

2. 2026 TOCFL & CCCC Test Registration

Flyer for the 2026 Bay Area TOCFL and CCCC Chinese proficiency tests, with dates, fees, and contact info.
Test date: November 8, 2026, 11 AM–1 PM, at two sites — the Bay Area Overseas Chinese Culture and Education Service Center, 100 S. Milpitas Blvd., Milpitas (TOCFL and CCCC), and the North California Chinese Culture and Learning Center, 275 6th Ave., San Francisco (TOCFL only). Registration deadline: October 1, 2026; results in mid-January 2027. Fees: CCCC $30, TOCFL $40.

The Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco (TECO in SF) are co-hosting the 2026 Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Children's Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC). Students are encouraged to sign up and get a sense of their Chinese proficiency and learning progress. The school is coordinating registration for all participating students — please register promptly if you're interested. More info.

  • Test Time: 11:00 AM (TOCFL: 2 hours; CCCC: 1 hour)

3. Double Ten National Day T-Shirt Design Contest

Flyer for the Double Ten National Day T-shirt design contest, with a QR code to register.
Theme: "My National Day, My Style." Age groups: 5–8, 9–12, 13+. Designs must include at least one of: National Day, culture, or creativity. Deadline: October 3, 2026. Prizes: 1st $150, 2nd $80, 3rd $50, honorable mention $20.

Hosted by the Association of Northern California Chinese Schools and co-sponsored by the San Jose International Jaycees, this contest invites students to design their own Double Ten National Day T-shirt!

  • Teen (ages 13+)

4. SF Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Essay Contest

Flyer for the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall of SF's essay contest for Chinese school students.
Open to students ages 12–22 who have attended a Chinese school. Write 800–1200 characters in Chinese (handwritten or typed; no AI-generated writing) on one of two topics about Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Submit by email to sskidspreschool@yahoo.com by October 15, 2026; winners are announced October 25. Prizes: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $200, honorable mention $100 each. Winners must attend the awards ceremony on November 7, 2026 at 11am at the Memorial Hall (838 Stockton St, SF) and give brief remarks. Contact: (510) 449-7375 (Director Yang Kun-shan).

5. Volunteer Service Award

🔥 The Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS) Student Volunteer Service Award is now open for applications! This award recognizes Chinese school students for their community service hours, with Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers for both Teens and Young Adults.

  • Teen (ages 11–15): 🥉 Bronze 50–74 hrs ｜ 🥈 Silver 75–99 hrs ｜ 🥇 Gold 100+ hrs
  • Young Adult (16+): 🥉 Bronze 100–174 hrs ｜ 🥈 Silver 175–249 hrs ｜ 🥇 Gold 250+ hrs

Application deadline: October 1, 2026. Details at www.anccs.org.

Classroom Use Policy
